Prerequisite: Permission of honors coordinator or department LEC 3 hrs., LAB 0 hrs, Course fee $40. An introduction to the biological sciences through a study of principles and concepts basic to the major discipline of biology. Topics include fundamentals of chemistry, cell structure and function, the nature of biological molecules, energetic synthesis and the morphology and physiology of animals and plants. Dissection is required as part of the laboratory syllabus. Lecture and laboratory will use an investigatory approach to topics and stress both individual and team research into theory, methodology, and experimental design and project completion.
