Prerequisite: SPN 212 or permission of department chairperson LEC 3 hrs., LAB 0 hrs. This course satisfies the Diversity/Global Perspective requirement provided the language is not the student's native language. Advanced Spanish Conversation focuses on correct and appropriate written forms of communication in Spanish. The narrative, descriptive, expository, and argumentative essay will be studied along with other special types of formal and informal writing. Students will review spelling, syntax, and grammar, and are expected to conduct extensive conversation in Spanish to elicit topics for writing projects. This course will help the English speakers to develop new structures in Spanish syntax and understand, to a greater extent, aspects of Hispanic culture embodied in written forms. It will also increase the knowledge of written structures of native speakers and expand their understanding of formal written language. Classes for this course are conducted entirely in Spanish.
