Prerequisite: MAT 100 or equivalent. This is the first course in a two-semester sequence of intermediate algebra and trigonometry with technical applications. Course topics include a review of the fundamental concepts of algebra, units of measurement and approximate numbers, functions and graphs, trigonometric functions, ratio, proportion and variation, systems of linear equations, determinants, factoring, rational expressions, quadratics, inequalities, and geometry, (areas and perimeters of common plane figures, volumes and surface areas of common solids). The use of a graphing calculator is required for this course to further the exploration of these topics and their applications.
