3 class hours 3 Credits Prerequisite: None This course is an introduction to German language and culture, with emphasis placed upon German grammar, reading, writing, and conversation. Students will work extensively outside of class with interactive audio-visual materials which they can access at home, in the language laboratory, and in the campus libraries. Elementary German I introduces college students to the basics of the German language as spoken and written within contemporary German-speaking countries. This course will focus on the elements of spoken and written communication: vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, etc. In addition, the course will begin to familiarize students with contemporary German life and culture.
