Prerequisite: RDG 0800 or placement; and MTH 1120 or math placement; and CHE 1000 or California Chemistry Diagnostic Test (score of 20 or above) Students learn fundamental principles of chemistry based on a study of the physical and chemical properties of the metallic and nonmetallic elements. Topics include the structure of matter, symbols, formulas and equations, chemical bonding, gaseous state and the kinetic molecular theory, solutions, oxidation reduction, and the periodic table. Credit for this course may be earned through Advanced Placement Examination.
