Prerequisite: EMS 1540 or current EMT-I certification A continuation of EMS 1540, this course addresses the care of patients suffering from abuse or assault, special physical and mental challenges, chronic disease, communicable disease, and terminal illness. Additional topics include cultural diversity issues, ambulance operations, the medical incident command system, rescue awareness and operations, hazardous materials incidents, and crime scene awareness. Students learn to integrate the pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for patients with those conditions identified above. Offered days, evenings, and weekends. Course fee: $50.00
