Prerequisite:current EMT-B certification; plus BIO 1040 taken in the same or a previous semester This course provides an introduction to Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate and Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic practice. As one of two foundation courses, the following topics will be covered: the EMS system, EMT roles and responsibilities, infection control, principles of pharmacology, medication administration, practitioner well-being, illness and injury prevention, ethicolegal issues, professionalism, Maryland EMT practice protocols, principles of pathophysiology, therapeutic communication, and human life-span development. Offered days, evenings, and weekends. Course fee: $85.00
