Prerequisite: PGL 1010 or PGL 1011 In this elective legal specialty course, students study the legal concepts entailed in drafting and preparing simple wills and trusts and administering estates in Maryland, as well as the processes, procedures, and writings for which a paralegal may be responsible. Topics include practical considerations of administering an estate; the appraisal of estate assets and probate inventory; inheritance taxes; claims against the estate; management of debts; accounting and distribution considerations; the drafting and execution of wills, simple trusts, and guardianships; and succession. Students who have completed PGL 1440 cannot receive credit for PGL 2140. Offered irregularly. Course fee: $10.00
