Prerequisite: any nationally recognized Open Water Diver certification This course provides the novice diver with a structured, well-supervised means to gain additional diving experience. It consists of five open water training dives; three are core (required) dives, and two are elective dives. Core dives orient students to the fundamentals of advanced diving and include underwater navigation, night diving, and deep diving. Students select two elective dives that interest them from a list of nine specialty dives. Students with current CPR and First Aid certification may qualify for an Advanced Open Water Diver Plus rating. Upon successful completion, students qualify for YMCA, PADI, and SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Individuals, who are already certified Advanced Open Water Divers (including military divers), may earn credit for this course by completing a scuba knowledge review session. Contact the aquatics coordinator for details. Additional expenses include mask, fins, snorkel, texts, openwater dive fees, and related expenses. Certain past or present medical conditions may require a student to obtain a medical examination. Offered irregularly. Course fee: $279.00
