3 hours. Prerequisite: Exemption from or successful completion of READ 0099 and ENGL 0099. A survey of Western art from prehistoric through medieval times. The formal characteristics of the painting, sculpture, architecture, and some of the minor arts will be analyzed. An introduction to the basic knowledge necessary for painting, sculpture, and the related arts. A study of outstanding examples of painting, sculpture, and the related arts. Spring, even years.
