Prerequisite: Exemption from or successful completion of READ 0099 and ENGL 0099; This course will cover the history, theory, technologies and practices associated with the mass media industries of the print media (newspaper, books, and magazines), the electronic media (movies, television, radio, Internet and cable and the services that are interconnected to the mass media (public relations and advertising). The course will examine the impact these media have upon society and the impact society has upon them, and will explore the ethical and legal issues that impact modern media. Fall.
