(3lab) The basic course in Modern Chinese (Mandarin) is designed to develop primary listening and speaking skills through work in the classroom and language laboratory. Students will learn the pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary of Chinese in the context of important aspects of the culture affecting the communication process. Students will be introduced to the romanized writing system (pinyin).
