Description:
This course includes the material from the Medical Emergencies and EMS Operations Section of the Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate National Standard Curriculum (EMT-I/85 NSC.) It includes units on respiratory, cardiac, diabetic, allergic, poisoning and overdoeses, neuro-logical, abdominal and environmental emergencies in the adult patient as well as the geriatric patient. In addition, EMTP 1108 includes basic information on ambulance operations. Students will practice safe vehicle operations, stratcher safety, patient movement, intermediate level patients assessment and management. Actual field applications and clinical decision making will be required. Prerequisites: Limited to Fast Track Paramedic Students. Offered: Fall.
