Student may enroll in either department, but not both, for credit.) Four hours lecture, one additional hour to be arranged. A cross-cultural history of American art history which includes interdisciplinary analysis of diverse art forms generated by artists of color, including African Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Latina(o)s/Chicana(o)s, and Americans of non-European heritage. Significant attention will be given to issues related to race, gender, and social class as the traditions, values, and cultural expressions of diverse societies and their contributions to American visual culture are explored.
