Prerequisite: Biology 6B. Advisory: English Writing 1A or English as a Second Language 5; Mathematics 114 or equivalent. Four hours lecture, six hours laboratory, one additional hour to be arranged in the Science Center Resource Center. Principles of evolution and ecology. Includes evolution within populations, the origin of species and higher taxa, and ecology at the levels of populations, communities, and ecosystems. The laboratory portion of the course includes hands-on research and a detailed look at how biology is done.
