(See general education pages for the requirement this course meets.) Prerequisite: Cantonese 1. Five hours lecture, one hour laboratory. Presentation and study of Cantonese language and culture of Guandung Province. Basic speaking, listening, reading and writing of Cantonese will be introduced within a cultural context. Emphasis will be on language as an expression of culture. Language laboratory practice will be a part of the regular instruction to reinforce pronunciation, grammar, syntax and conversation. Further development of material is presented in Cantonese 1.
