Prerequisite: English Writing 211 and Reading 211 (or Language Arts 211), or English as a Second Language 272 and 273, and English as a Second Language 226; or a qualifying score on the English as a Second Language placement test. Five hours lecture, one additional hour to be arranged working in Cross Cultural Partners and/or use of the English as a Second Language Laboratory and/or use of the Listening and Speaking Laboratory and/or work in the Writing and Reading Center and/or civic engagement and/or community service. Practice of the techniques of expository and argumentative writing based on personal experience, critical reading, and critical thinking.
