Three hours lecture. Introduction to the language and cultures of Mandarin-speaking countries and communities. Spoken Chinese will be introduced with focus on pronunciation and vocabulary, in connection with elements of Chinese culture necessary to understand the language. Intensive drills in the patterns and idioms of daily speech will be supported by sufficient grammar to give flexibility in the spoken language.
