(Formerly Music 45C.) Prerequisite: Ability to play an instrument and read music. Four hours lecture-laboratory. (May be taken six times for credit as long as the topics/projects are different each time.) Preparation and performance of music for jazz combos. Ensemble and improvisational performance are emphasized in addition to playing in all jazz rhythmic styles. Student compositions and arrangements are encouraged. Participation at all scheduled performances is required.
