(See general education pages for the requirement this course meets.) Advisory: English Writing 211 and Reading 211 (or Language Arts 211), or English as a Second Language 272 and 273. Two hours laboratory. (May be taken six times for credit.) An introduction to the discipline of Physical Education through the sport of softball. Includes a global and historical examination of the sport, rules, equipment, facilities, etiquette, and beginning skills and strategy as related to playing the game. Fundamental skills and rules pertaining to softball. Analysis of basic strategy in a game situation and the different outcomes resulting from specific player actions will be covered. Basic exercise physiology, nutrition, flexibility and strength concepts to improve physical condition will be included.
