Utilizing substantial group work, this course introduces students to the development and application of technology in modern business organizations. Students will apply information literacy competencies by learning to search for special topics/projects using multiple search engines, work productively in a team setting, research the technology marketplace and be able to identify the best components needed for computers and business. Students will also learn database management systems using Microsoft Access, networking, and other technologies through course readings, case studies, and group projects. Competencies to be developed include understanding, applying, and evaluating technology that is designed to define, acquire, organize, and present information that supports business operations and performance. The course serves as the foundation for other Business Technology courses. Prerequisite: CIS 103, placement by the computer assessment, or permission of instructor. Lab Fee: $30. Offered every semester.
