Prerequisites: Program admission, AHS 1011, AHS 104, AHS 109, ENG 1010, MAT 1012, PSY 1010, SCT 100 with a minimum grade of "C Corequisites: SUR 102, SUR 109 This course provides an overview of the surgical technology profession and develops the fundamental concepts and principles necessary for successful participation on a surgical team. Topics include: orientation to surgical technology, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), introduction to microbiology, asepsis and the surgical environment, principles of sterilization process, basic instrumentation, equipment and application of sterilization principles in the clinical lab setting.
