Description:
Parent-child nursing is the study of nursing care related to the prenatal, intrapartal and postpartal periods of the woman and her family. Reproductive issues and selected abnormal conditions during pregnancy and birth are included. Common congenital/genetic conditions and childhood diseases are also discussed. Cognitive and psychomotor skills applicable to parent-child nursing are included in the college laboratory. Students care for patients in a variety of settings. A minimal grade of C is required to progress to NUR 216. This course may not be repeated. Note: Students must register for both a lecture and a lab. 2 Lecture, 3 Lab, 3 Credit Hours. Prerequisites: C grade or better in BIO 132; C grade or better in NUR 112; concurrent enrollment in BIO 212 and NUR 213.
