Description:
This foundation course introduces the organizing framework for the nursing curriculum. The framework consists of human needs, stress/adaptation, developmental stages, the health/illness continuum, the nursing process, and the National League of Nursing Core Components and their competencies expected of graduates of associate degree nursing programs. Psychomotor and cognitive skills basic to the practice of professional nursing are included in the college laboratory. Clinical experiences occur in long-term care facilities. A minimum grade of C is required to advance to NUR 112. A student may attempt the course two times depending on re-entry rubric score. Note: Students must register for both a lecture and a lab. 3 Lecture, 8 Lab, 6 Credit Hours. Prerequisites: Satisfactory score on Math placement test or passing grade in CSM 093 or a college level math course; eligibility to enroll in ENG 101 as determined by placement testing results; BIO 131 or concurrent enrollment. Co-requisite: NUR 107.
