Prerequisites: Swimming skills equivalent to the ARC Swimmers Certificate, ability to swim 500 yards continuously, and ARC Basic or Emergency Water Safety Certificate or ARC Safety training for swim coaches. Theory and practice of swimming strokes, diving, lifesaving, teaching methods and emergency procedures. Preparation for and completion of tests for American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor, First Aid, Community CPR, CPR/BLS and Instructor Candidate Training Certificates. Total of 54 hours lecture and 54 hours laboratory. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC
