An introduction to the theory, principles, and operation of automotive transmission and drive systems,with emphasis on manual systems. Learned theory and principles will be applied to the diagnosis,maintenance, repair, and overhaul of manually-operated transmission systems, transaxles, and differentials. The course emphasizes inspection of systems and components, location of malfunctions, the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance, and the proper use of instruments, tools, and equipment.
