This course is designed to provide students with classroomand laboratory experience in current and emerging networking technology. Instruction includes networking, network terminology and protocols, network standards, local area networks (LANS), wide area networks (WANS),Open System Interconnection (OSI) models, Ethernet, Token ring Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI), Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol (TCP/IP),Addressing Protocol dynamic routing, routing, and the network administrator's function. Students will successfully implement beginning router configurations, demonstrate an understanding of routed and routing protocols and the fundamentals of LAN switching. This is the second of four semester courses designed to prepare students for the CISCO Certified Network Associate examination. Lab fee required. 45 class hours. Prerequisites: CET 1600, relevant industry experience or instructor consent.
