This course is designed to prepare a student to apply and understand the basics of networking hardware. Instruction includes the OSI model and industry standards; network topologies; IP addressing, including subnet masks; and basic network design. Students will install and operate simplerouted LAN, routed WAN and switched LAN and LAN networks. This is the first of four semester courses designed to provide students with classroom and laboratory experience in current and emerging networking, and to prepare students for the CISCO Certified Network Associate examination. Lab fee required. 45 class hours. Prerequisite(s):CGS 1000,CGS 1100, and CGS 1263, or consent of instructor.
