A survey of Italian literature and civilization from the 18th century to the present. Selections from the works of seminal writers such as Goldoni, Manzoni, Verga, Pirandello and Calvino will be studied in the context of historical and cultural developments. Lectures and readings in English. This course fulfills the SUNY Gen Ed western civilization requirement as well as the Global Awareness requirement for the A.A. in Humanities and Social Sciences. However, it does NOT fulfill the foreign language requirement for any degree program.
