Description:
This course is the study of the principles and practice of insurance and reimbursement processing. It includes the assignment and reporting of codes for diagnoses and procedures/services. The completion of UB-04 and CMS-1500 claims for inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and physician office encounters will be covered. Inpatient and outpatient cases will be reviewed to identify issues of fraud and abuse. Prospective payment systems and revenue cycle management will be included. Prerequisite: HIT 110, HIT 210.
