Orientation to hospital organization, administration, and physical structure, with concentration on surgical areas. Interpersonal relationships, stressing patient welfare and the "surgical team" concept. Introduction to medicalterminology and microbiology. Emphasis on development of knowledge and skills relating to principles and practices of sterilization, aseptic techniques, surgical instruments and supplies, pneumatic and electrical equipment; electrosurgical, cryosurgical, and laser techniques.
