(Dual listed with HIS 177) A survey of the African American experience since the Reconstruction Era to the post-World War II period and the current scene. Emphasis centers on the Civil Rights Movement, the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Revolution and the philosophies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Jesse Jackson, Angela Davis, Cynthia Boston, Willie McGee and the "exiled" leadersof the contemporary scene.
