Prerequisites: Acceptance into the dental assisting or dental hygiene program. Corequisite: DES1020*. Dental Anatomy Laboratory is designed to provide an in-depth study of tooth morphology for dental assisting, bridge and hygiene students. Laboratory exercises will include identification, characteristics, and eruption/exfoliation dates of each of the primary and permanent teeth, and distinguishing right from left. Students will use acrylic replicas and natural teeth to locate landmarks and characteristics on each of the primary and permanent teeth. Basic information about orofacial landmarks and anatomy of the support structures of the teeth will be provided. Laboratory exercises will be supplemented with a study guide. Contact: 1 hour per week.
