Prerequisites: BSC2085 and BSC2085L or BSC1084C. Corequisites: BSC2086 and BSC2086L, EMS 1155 and EMS 1155L and permission of EMS program director is required. This course incorporates basic concepts of pharmacology including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, adverse reactions, mechanisms of action, and drug interactions for commonly used groups of drugs. Includes effects of age and culture on drug treatment, mathematics of drugs and solutions, and principles of patient education regarding drug treatment. Includes instruction on proper methods of medication administration as it pertains to the paramedic. Contact: 5 hours per week. Additional fee.
