Prerequisites: CGS 1060, or CGS 2100 or permission of the instructor. Serves as an introduction to database systems. Emphasis will be placed on the concept of information as a corporate resource and the importance of managing this resource. Topics covered include a comparison of databases with traditional file systems, related database concepts, introduction to structured query language (SQL), database design using entity relationship models and database normalization.
