This course introduces disability as an aspect of the human experience and in relationship to a changing society.Topics include a global perspective of the prevalence and incidence of disability through historical and cultural concepts, as well as political and economic factors that help define disability and shape societys response to it. The course examines the self-determination movement and its impact on disability services. Prerequisite:HS101 Introduction to Human Services.
