Prerequisite: typing speed of 45 wpm with 3 or fewer errors on a 5 minute timing, admission to the Online Medical Transcription program This online course introduces students to the career of online medical transcription, goal setting, on-line learning, and documentation formats using speed typing software and medical reference texts. Students will review English composition, basic medical terminology, and the legal and liability issues for medical transcriptionists. Students will begin to use Microsoft Word shortcuts and macros and will participate in on-line discussion and use the Internet for research. (5 contact hours: 2 lecture, 3 lab)
