Prerequisite: ECED 2160 (can be taken concurrently), EDUC 2031 (can be taken concurrently), EDUC 2032 (can be taken concurrently), EDUC 2300 (can be taken concurrently), PSYC 2200 (can be taken concurrently) This course introduces prospective teacher aides to the range of teaching methodologies that may be used in K-12 classrooms and in remediation settings. It also gives students practical, hands-on experience in the K-12 classroom, where they are invited to observe and then practice a range of teaching methodologies. Students come to understand that educators have systematically studied their own practice in the search for tools and models that help to expand student learning. Students will explore various topics, including the creation of communities of learners, students as partners in learning, and the augmenting of basic thinking skills.(10 contact hours: 3 lecture, 7 lab)
