Description:
This course introduces students, with no previous shop experience, to machine shop safety, blue print reading, shop mathematics, basic shop gauges, measuring instruments and metrology techniques, and basic machine tools. Laboratory experience includes making parts from blueprints, using a vertical milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, and drill press; and using gauges and measuring instruments to inspect parts. The course grade will be Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory. (CIM Tech-Prep students should not take this course.) (3 contact hours: 1 lecture, 2 lab)
