This study encompasses substantive and procedural law from the correctional officer's perspective. The students/ recruits will learn the substantive law with emphasis on the elements of proof needed for a specific criminal act and how to obtain the evidence necessary without violating the inmate's constitutional rights and avoiding civil liability. 3 credit hours.
