SCE 3940 - Teaching Middle School Science Practicum

This course provides the opportunities to present interactive curriculum projects to middle school students in local area school districts. Students spend a minimum of 30 school-based hours in the middle school classroom. Project presentations are coordinated with in-service middle school teachers and their curriculum schedules and needs. This course addresses specific Sunshine State Standards, subject matter competencies, and pedagogy pertinent to the discipline and required for certification. Students who are majoring in science education and who will be obtaining teacher certification in grades 5-9 or 6-12 are eligible for this class. Prerequisite: EDF 2005, EDG 2701, EME 2040, EDF 3214, nine (9) hours of science content courses. Corequisite: Middle Grades SCE 3360 or Secondary Biology EDG 3343.
