6 cr. This course includes classroom and clinical experiences and provides students the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required for EMT-B National Certification. Emphasis is placed on patient assessment, clinical signs and symptoms, pathophysiology and pre-hospital care of patients. Areas of instruction include CPR, airway essentials, assessment and care of trauma and medical patients including infants, children and the elderly, rescue operations, hazardous materials and pharmacological interventions. Clinical rotation in an emergency room is required.
