3 cr. This course studies the process through which justice is administered and the history of the American legal system. Also examined are the Constitution of the United States as it applies to police forces. Rules of evidence with attention given to judicial notice, presumptions, the nature of real and circumstantial evidence, burden of proof, documentary evidence, hearsay evidence, confessions and admissions will also be studied. Particular emphasis will be given to evidence, arrest procedures, as well as search and seizure. (Fall)
