3 cr. In World Music students study a variety of ethnic music from around the world. While our primary focus will be limited to certain selected regions and traditions, the overall scope will be broad in that these regions represent many different continents: North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Because we will be studying music within the context of the societies that create it, our approach to the course material is interdisciplinary as we will be incorporating aspects of the arts, humanities and social sciences.
