This course explores the political, cultural, and economic history of the South. Major themes include the founding of the South from an environmental perspective, the Antebellum Era, the Confederacy and the Lost Cause, Reconstruction, the Jim Crow Era, the South during the Great Depression, and the struggle for Civil Rights.This course satisfies the Gordon Rule writing requirement. A grade of "C" or higher mustbe attained. 45 class hours. Prerequisite: Appropriate placement test scores or ENC0010 and REA0002 (completed with a grade of "C" or higher for each course)
