This course is a continuation of the study of medical coding and coding principles and procedures using the Physicians' Current ProcedureTerminology (CPT) coding nomenclature and the International Classification of Diseases, 9th edition Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) statistical classification system as used in physicians' offices, hospitals, and other medical facilities. Emphasis will be on the application of coding skills and may include visits to local coding offices. Lab fee required. 135 hours of instruction. Prerequisite: HIM 0280, a valid CPR card, and an approved four-hour AIDS seminar.
