This course introduces the history of medical coding and coding principles and presents an overview of procedures using the Physician's Current ProcedureTerminology (CPT) coding nomenclature and the International Classification of Diseases, 9th edition, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) statistical classification system used in physicians' offices, hospitals and other medical facilities. Lab fee required. 135 hours of instruction. Prerequisite: HSC 0534
