Prerequisite: CGS 1570 or permission of instructor.A beginning course in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).GIS is the combination of data and where that data occurs spatially on a map.This computer application technology is used by utility companies, forestry managers, environmental businesses, government planners,market researchers, real estate developers, emergency planners, civil engineers, and a variety of other disciplines.Topics include map projections, database management, collection of data, spatial representation of data, analyzing spatial relations layering data in combinations, and creating presentations.This course is open to all students with basic computing skills.
