Prerequisite: satisfactory completion of College Preparatory Reading (REA 0002) or appropriate placement scores. Covers the standards and protocols of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), PC to mainframe connections, LAN gateways to mainframe hosts and other distributed systems. The skills taught will focus on those of a network administrator. Emphasis will be on a variety of popular LAN hardware and software as well as look at emerging technologies. Contact: 3 hours.
