Prerequisite: EDF1005. An introduction to the value of diversity in American society and the manifestations of diversity in the educational system. Focuses on providing prospective teachers with knowledge about students in American schools who are from different ethnic, racial, cultural, and/or linguistic backgrounds or who represent other categories of diversity, and how the needs of diverse students may be addressed. Open only to students who have completed 12 or more semester hours with an overall GPA of 2.5 or better. Required field experience: 15 hours. This course fulfills one of the lower division education core prerequisites for teacher education majors.
